Where Children Come First

Google Apps For Education

Primary Google Services

  • An individual email account for students in grades 3 through 8 is provided for school use and managed by District 126. All student email is restricted to sending and receiving messages only from users within District 126, and all incoming and outgoing student email is actively monitored by the email monitoring service, Gaggle.

  • An individual calendar that provides the ability to organize schedules, daily activities, and assignments.

  • A word processing, spreadsheet, drawing, and presentation toolset that is very similar to Microsoft Office, which allows students to collaborate with other students and teachers.

  • Secure cloud storage and file backup for your photos, videos, and files.

Using these tools, students collaboratively create, edit, and share files for school-related projects and communicate via email with other students and teachers. These services are entirely online and available 24/7 from any internet-connected computer. Examples of student use include showcasing class projects, building an electronic portfolio of school learning experiences, and working in small groups on presentations to share with others.

All student use of Google Apps for Education must follow the District's established Acceptable Use Policy, which is available on our website at District 126 AUP.
